Today's Outfit (29.03.13)

Ahh, can't wait until the summer of 2013! It's exactly when it's a sunny day like this, and you can go out with just a denim jacket without freezing you notice how near it actually is. I love how a denim jacket can fit to almost everything! It's a easy way to dress up your outfit. Today I went with a easy outfit: A white top with a big bow, black jeans, a denim jacket, a "infinity" ring, a black sleeve and some light brown shoes. I love how small things can dress up your outfit!

Top: dorothy perkins
Shoes: topshop
Jeans: only
Sleeve: h&m
Ring: glitter
Denim jacket: freequent

Statement necklaces

I love how accessories can make or break an outfit. With the right accessories the simplest outfit can look fantastic. One thing I love in particular are the statement necklaces! Whenever I’m buying new necklaces I always end up buying them.
So I decided to take a few photos of some of my favorites and how I like to style them. I also decided to include some other necklaces, because well I love them!

Some tips for using a statement necklace:
  • Statement necklace tip #1: You should in general avoid wearing a statement necklace if your outfit already has prints or lots of colour. So keep it simple, and don’t overdo with bracelets, rings and earrings.
  • Statement necklace tip #2: The necklace should sit on or just under the collar bone, this is more flattering to the neckline and you don’t look like you’re choking.
  • Statement necklace tip #3: Bold colored necklaces looks amazing paired with white clothes.
  • Statement necklace tip #4: Make your own necklaces by using old brooches.
  • Statement necklace tip #5: Make sure the neckline on your top is either lower or above the statement necklace. That way you won’t have to constantly fix it when the necklace gets behind the top.

Do you like statement necklaces? How do you style them?

Essie Fiji review

As an impulsive buy I bought Essie’s nail polish Fiji, WITHOUT looking at reviews. May not seem like a big deal to you, but I haven’t bought any cosmetic products in years without searching first. I’m glad I bought it though, because all the negative reviews would have changed my mind. It’s a shade people seem to either love or hate, and I definitely love it!
I’m the kind of person who barely wears nail polish in the first place. And if I do it’s most likely a nude colour, mainly because they fit everything. And this has to be one of my favourite shades.
I would call it a pale milky colour that’s not too white or too pink.

Cons: This nail polish is a bit hard to apply and needs a few coats before it looks good. It also peels off quite easily, but I definitely think it's worth it.

Have you tried it before? Do you like it or not?

My favourite watch

I got this watch from River Island, and after buying it I've been wearing it all the time. I feel like it goes with anything because it's not completely gold, but kind of white aswell.

Mac lipstick swatches

Mac Angel is a soft pink shade with a frost finish. I really like this lipstick especially with a lip gloss over.

Mac Pure Zen is a rosy beige nude shade with a cremesheen finish. This is by far my favourite lipstick, and I love that it looks so natural on my lips.

Mac Myth is a light nude shade with a satin finish. I think it's difficult to get this lipstick to look natural, but it looks okay with a lip gloss over. I mostly use this with smokey eyes or under other lipsticks.

Mac Red is a blue based red lipstick with a satin finish. And the blue undertones makes the teeth look much whiter. I didn't really like this lipstick at first, but after wearing it a few times I've absolutely fallen in love with it.

Benefit Peek-A-Bright Eyes tutorial

In this tutorial I'll show you one way to use the Peek-A-Bright Eyes kit.
Eye bright               Base shadow              Contour shadow              Highlight shadow
Base shadow              Contour shadow              Highlight shadow              Eye bright

I also used the Isadora Glossy Eyeliner in 40 chrome black and the Benefit They're Real Mascara.

First apply the base shadow over the entire eyelid.

Use a brush to dab the warm chocolate contour shadow into the crease, and blend it into the base shadow. Then use a small brush to apply the shadow to the upper and lower lash lines.

Dab and blend the eye bright on the inner corners of the eye.

Put on the eyeliner.

And apply the mascara.
